Hey guys, I want to market a webpage(s) and want a great hosting service specific in the areas of a newbie like me. I heard host gator was good but not the best for beginners.
Hostgator and many other linux hosting providers utilize cPanel. It is a very user friendly control panel, which I personally think is best for beginners, such as yourself.
You should have no problems with Hostgator. Although I should point out, that unlimited diskspace/bandwidth does not exist. There will always be a limit, try reading their terms of service carefully.
I would advise you to search for a host that provides realistic space/bandwidth. You should check the shared hosting offers
Going with a provider offering installatron/fantastico may help you get started much faster - they allow you to install content management softwares with ease and you don't have to know any kind of coding at all. And generally every script found in the install packages have tons of tutorials on the net. Easy way to get started in the webmaster world imo.
Anyway, just in case you end up comparing HG to other big hosts instead of small ones, these are uptime records of some hosting accounts: http://www.pingdom.com/reports/xdibiaa9tyvu/

hosting for beginners?
Well, smaller hosts may be more willing to hold your hand and address things that are not really a host's responsibility, as, typically, the owner is ready to undervalue his time. Not something an employee is very willing to do though.
