eUKhost.com Launches New line of Dedicated Servers

a provider of Shared, Reseller, Virtual Private Servers and dedicated servers, today introduced Enterprise Linux/Windows Dedicated Servers. The company states that starting at just £129 GBP per month, Enterprise Dedicated Servers will have a setup identical to its existing Shared Hosting Servers. These servers will have the same security settings applied, and they will also be actively monitored similar to the shared hosting servers they currently manage.
Besides the regular backups, each server will also be setup with RAID 1 in order to minimize potential problems and prevent subsequent data loss. It further states that all Enterprise Dedicated Servers are based on Linux or Windows Platform where each Linux Enterprise Dedicated Server will be pre-installed with cPanel/WHM control panel, while Windows Enterprise Dedicated Servers will be pre-installed with DotNetPanel control panel.
In order to guarantee the security and performance of these servers, the company has imposed certain security restrictions similar to those on their shared hosting servers. The main security restriction being the root/Administrator login not been given to the customers in order to ensure only the company technicians can perform software updates, security changes, maintenance and optimizations on the server which will enable the company to be in total control over the hosting environment. Having said that, the company is willing to provide root/Administrator details of these servers to the respective users upon request.
Ryan Watson, Business Development Manager at eUKhost, states “We found that many customers needed the power of a Dedicated Server, but only wanted the responsibility of a Shared Hosting account. We’ve made a special effort to simplify our dedicated server offerings and at the same time offer our customers the flexibility they need to run their online business without worrying about server management.”

The Planet Extends High-Performance SAN to Dedicated Hosting Customers

The Planet, a global leader in IT hosting, today announced the availability of the Dell PowerVault MD3000i, a high-performance storage area network (SAN) disk array. Ideal for multi-server environments such as virtual and private racks, the MD3000i offers a cost-effective and scalable storage solution.
The MD3000i uses iSCSI Ethernet technology to enable shared storage across multiple servers, eliminating the need to build out a costly fiber channel infrastructure. Up to 16 servers can share the MD3000i, which has 15 internal drive slots for a total storage capacity up to 15 terabytes (TB). In the event more capacity is required, companies can add up to two MD1000 storage arrays to the MD3000i for an additional 45TB.
“One of the most critical business challenges customers face today is data storage, and all too often it’s also one of the most costly,” said Rob Walters, director of product management for The Planet. “The MD3000i lowers the barrier to entry for high-performance, consolidated storage, and also provides a clear path for expansion for companies that expect to see their storage requirements grow.”
About the Dell PowerVault MD3000i
The iSCSI SAN array provides a scalable and low-cost storage solution, which continually protects daily operations and enables an easy path for expansion:
Cost-effective: The MD3000i, The Planet’s lowest-priced SAN, can be shared by as many as 16 servers, which eliminates the high cost of buying individual storage devices for each server.
Scalable: In addition to its 15 internal drive slots, customers can add up to two 15-drive MD1000 disk arrays to the MD3000i, for up to 45TB of storage.
Capable: With its large capacity and high availability, the MD3000i is ideal for businesses running performance-intensive applications, databases, and file or archive storage.
For more information, visit the Web site at http://www.theplanet.com/storage-area-network/.
Through Dec. 31, the company is offering a promotion on the MD3000i and MD1000. Customers will receive either the SAN or DAS enclosure free with purchase of 15 1TB or 300GB hard drives, a savings up to $650 per month.

Reseller Program for Hosted Exchange 2010 Launched by Intermedia

Intermedia, today opened its industry-first hosted Exchange 2010 service to its existing and future partners. These managed service providers, value-added resellers and other technology providers can sell and support hosted Exchange 2010 under their own brand as members of Intermedia’s Private Label Partner Program.
Intermedia launched the first hosted Exchange 2010 service on November 9 and remains the only provider of hosted Exchange 2010. The service includes a 100 percent Data Protection Guarantee in addition to Intermedia’s longstanding 99.999 percent uptime service level agreement. Intermedia is able to credibly offer the Data Protection Guarantee, which is enforced by stiff financial penalties, because of the proprietary architecture the company developed to work with hosted Exchange 2010.
“With Intermedia, I can offer clients Exchange 2010 with a 100 percent Data Protection Guarantee, giving me an edge over competitors that offer only Exchange 2007,” says Etorre Dragone, president, Micro Technology Groupe. “I’m always looking for new solutions to help me expand my customer base – Exchange 2010 is definitely one that will help me close more deals with new prospects. Intermedia has proven to be a leader and a valued partner that focuses on offering us the latest in technology, security and reliability so that we can have best-of-breed offerings for our customers.”
According to an Osterman Research survey commissioned by Intermedia, nearly 50 percent of IT decision makers surveyed were on an Exchange 2003 or older platform. Of all IT decision makers surveyed, nearly 65 percent were likely to deploy Exchange 2010 within the next six months – supporting the notion that customers are eager for the new platform.
Intermedia private label partners generate recurring revenue from existing and new customers with high margin Exchange hosting services – all under their own brand – while Intermedia maintains, monitors and upgrades all hardware and software. Intermedia also offers an Affiliate Program for partners that prefer to promote Intermedia solutions and earn a commission for each sale they make. All partners can sell Intermedia’s full suite of hosted communications and collaboration software, including Office Communications Server 2007, SharePoint 3.0 WSS and both Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2007. Intermedia enables resellers to sell not only Microsoft products, but a full ecosystem of related offerings including full support for Blackberry Enterprise Server, fax lines and more.
Intermedia combines proprietary technology with Microsoft Exchange 2010 so customers and partners can have the most robust offering. Additional features of Intermedia’s hosted Exchange 2010 include:
* Choice of datacenter location per mailbox: Partners can choose, on a mailbox level basis, where their customers’ Exchange account data will be stored in order to minimize latency. Partners with customers that are spread throughout the U.S. will enjoy the ability to host some of their mailboxes on the East coast and some of them on the West coast.
* New Outlook Web Application (OWA): Partners’ customers will enjoy the ability to access email, instant messaging, SMS text messaging and more – all in one place and through all major web browsers.
* Improved ActiveSync: All the latest features of Exchange are available to any mobile device that has Windows Mobile 6.1 or later.
Intermedia has offered private label Exchange hosting since 2001 and has over 4,000 partners – from one-person firms to some of the world’s largest IT names.

“Green hosting is an important step forward in our evolution as a company,” notes Phil Spencer, CEO of Codero. “Through innovative practices and opportunities like the Green-e program, our customers can make smarter energy choices for their online businesses – and that benefits all of us.”
Codero’s broad commitment to greening its operations was made possible through Ecoelectrons Renewable Energy, which specializes in helping corporations reduce their carbon footprint through the purchase of Green-e certified RECs. Web Hosting Services Receive Transatlantic Exposure In 2010 At WebHostingDay And HostingCon

The first decade of the new millennium has shown a remarkably negative trend, starting with the burst of the dot-com bubble in the early years and finishing with the housing bubble burst in the later years. The rise and fall of the economy has affected nearly every industry, and conventions are the most recent to be hit. Traditionally strong marketing conventions, such as the DMA, are recording fewer exhibits and attendees than past years, and a few are opting not to open in the coming year.
However, much as the internet market foreshadowed the fall of the national and global economies, the slow rise of technology markets over the last five years portrays a glimmer of hope for other businesses. Of all the industries to track, Web Hosting Services are among the forerunners as they are the backbone of the internet and their success is directly influenced by the success of their customers. In the coming year, two of the largest web hosting conventions on the planet are anticipating continued growth as the industry itself sees renewed vigor.
In its fifth consecutive year, the upcoming WebHostingDay will be held March17-19, 2010 at Phantasialand in Bruehl, Germany. The convention promises to be one of the world’s largest web hosting events with over 2,000 attendees, and cites itself as being “from the industry for the industry.” Even though English will be the common language, conventioneers will be attending from Europe, America, and Asia, thus providing a forum for international networking, exchanging of ideas, and social interaction. The various events will include discussion forums, hosting sessions and fairs, hands-on labs, and social functions.
Of last year’s event, Phil Shih, a Tier One Research Analyst, said, “It was a good opportunity to learn about the unique dynamics of the European hosting market, something that I value as an industry analyst. It was also a good networking opportunity and for Tier1 Research, a sales opportunity. Speaking off the record, German beer is fabulous. I highly recommend Weizen.”
The sixth annual HostingCon will be held July 19-21, 2010 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. They project that there will be over 1,500 attendees from over 30 countries registered so far, and the convention touts itself as being “the largest gathering of hosted services professionals in the world.” In addition to the grand exhibitor hall, HostingCon will be providing seminars and speeches by industry leaders, and webinars regarding the current and future states of the industry.
The main website for HostingCon reads, “The best and brightest from the industry will be in attendance to learn about the latest news, ideas, and technology affecting their businesses. Whether you are showcasing your new services, or you are simply checking the pulse of the industry, this is your opportunity to meet and network with your business partners, in a fun and educational atmosphere.”
Web hosting services allow individuals and companies to display their websites on the Internet. Web hosts provide server space, on purchased or leased computers, for their clients. They also provide Internet connectivity, usually through a data center. The complexity of the services a web hosting company offers varies, from personal website hosting, commonly single pages, to application development platforms and database support for forums and E-commerce businesses.

looking for a host.. I dont have any money atm??

looking for a host.. I dont have any money atm but i would like to run a website and set up a digi chat on it.I mean if a host has a interest in running one as well. I dont mind people helping me run it. I would just like to have one myself and try to make it as big as most of the digi chat sites.

with out the available income or you do not have any spare cash, Then unfortunately no paid host will support you

I would do some searches on a free webhosting service, Though do bare in mind that if you do not want ads on your pages you might need to look for a paid hosting provider

hosting for beginners?

Hey guys,  I want to market a webpage(s) and want a great hosting service specific in the areas of a newbie like me. I heard host gator was good but not the best for beginners.

Hostgator and many other linux hosting providers utilize cPanel. It is a very user friendly control panel, which I personally think is best for beginners, such as yourself.

You should have no problems with Hostgator. Although I should point out, that unlimited diskspace/bandwidth does not exist. There will always be a limit, try reading their terms of service carefully.

I would advise you to search for a host that provides realistic space/bandwidth. You should check the shared hosting offers

Going with a provider offering installatron/fantastico may help you get started much faster - they allow you to install content management softwares with ease and you don't have to know any kind of coding at all. And generally every script found in the install packages have tons of tutorials on the net. Easy way to get started in the webmaster world imo.

Well, smaller hosts may be more willing to hold your hand and address things that are not really a host's responsibility, as, typically, the owner is ready to undervalue his time. Not something an employee is very willing to do though.

Anyway, just in case you end up comparing HG to other big hosts instead of small ones, these are uptime records of some hosting accounts: http://www.pingdom.com/reports/xdibiaa9tyvu/

Mulitple domain names/parking

Do you use multiple domain names and park them on your main domain to drive more traffic to your site? Does/will this work?

Yes, this is one of the way to promote your main domain. However, you may consider to use some SEO tools to improve your site ranking..

DotEasy.com Free Domain Hosting
Included with domain name purchase, at the time of this review buying the domain name through them costs $25, a reasonably competitive price, especially since they offer you free hosting with that! Their free hosting package gives you 100 megs of storage, 1GB/month of data transfer, up 10 personalized email addresses (ie. yourname@example.com, sales@example.com etc.), FTP access, free setup and no monthly or hidden fees.

They also offer many low priced packages if your site needs more space or bandwidth but you don't want to have to spend a lot. Again at the time of this review (their prices may have changed since) their Ultra Hosting package is only $7.95/month and includes 1000 MB storage, 20 GB monthly traffic, 100 email accounts, PHP / MySQL / CGI /SSL / Frontpage etc.
Forced Ads: None, it's ad-free.
Mister.Net
"No setup fees, No forced advertising, No banners, No popups, No fine print, No contracts and No hidden charges. Not now. Not Ever!" My sister hosts her domain here and says the service has been great. Their free domain hosting package gives 250 MB disk space, front page extensions, personal cgi-bin, unlimited email accounts, 5 pop mail accounts, 5 Gigs of bandwidth per month, unlimited ftp access, web based site control panel, domain control panel, accept credit cards worldwide, free e-commerce/shopping cart and more. Worth looking into!
Forced Ads: None.
x10Hosting
This free host offers 2 different plans. The first has no ads and offers up to 10 GB of bandwidth, the second plan does have ads but gives up to 45 GB of bandwidth. From the looks of it you get to place the ads yourself so you'll be able to work them into your site's layout better than at some other hosts, also the ad size is based on the plan you choose, for example (at the time of this review) if you just need 20 Gb of bandwidth per month the ad is a text ad, for 40Gb it's a 468 x 60 Banner.

All hosting plans at x10Hosting come with cPanel, Custom Account Panel, Addon Domains, Parked Domains, Sub Domains, FTP Accounts, E-mail (including webmail), PHP and GD Library.
Forced Ads: Your choice depending on the plan you choose.
Fire Productions Hosting
Looking for a free host in The U.K.? This one offers 100Mb of space with 5 Gb Data Transfer, 2 Domains and up to 4 Subdomains! A few nice extras are PHP with 1 MySQL account, a free DNS server a control panel and FTP.

Award Space
Award Space lets you host 2 domains and have 5 subdomains for free that include 200 MB of free space, 5 GB /month data transfer (bandwidth) and 5 email accounts (both POP3 & IMAP access). A few advanced features available are CGI, PHP Support, SSI and access to 1 MySQL Database as well as access to Web access and error logs. Uploading files to your domain can be done through FTP or browser based upload.

When I tested it I found the service to be fairly reliable with no huge downtimes or slowdowns. The control panel did have a lot of ads, but that's very fair considering they need to pay their bills to be able to keep the hosting free.
Forced Ads: No forced ads at all added to the sites hosted.
FreeHostia
Register a top level domain with them for $19.95 and they give you free domain hosting with 250 MB space and 5 GB monthly bandwidth. A few bonus features are 5 subdomains are available, Perl and PHP with 1 MySQL database and PHPMyAdmin, FrontPage extensions, SSI and many others. Again, I haven't had a chance to test this host (I can only run so many domains at a time ;-) ), but it does look like a good one.

10 Backup Essentials for all Webmasters

One of the most ignored topics is the backup. Most of the webmasters take care of everything and they leave the backup aside. We know it’s not one of the most pleasant tasks but by making that effort today you could save yourself a lot of stress and hassle later. Before you lose all your website files stop for a minute, read this article and think about it.
EXPECT – We all had those moments where we think nothing can happen to us. As they say- expect the unexpected. It is always better to do so. With the proper mindset, you are insuring the continuity of your online endeavor in any eventualities. No matter how big and resourceful your hosting company is everyone and anyone can experience problems, after all when working with computers you can never be 100% sure. The best thing you can do is – to be ready.
SCHEDULE – Make sure you pick a time where you will have time, and when the website/ server is not overloaded. It’s is not a good idea to start the backup process when your website is most crowded, after all you don’t want to ruin the user experience and load times.
STICK with it – Most of the time backing up means being patient. So be patient and do it regularly. You don’t want to be left without some vital data just because you decided you can cut backing up for couple of days, or couple of weeks – depending on how often you update your website.
EVALUATE – test your backups. Find a place where you can make a recover copy and test if everything you would need is backed up. Backing up just for the sake of it without knowing if it will save you in time of need is useless. You do need a good and working backup so make sure you have one.
NO Complacency – Don’t be lazy. Don’t skip backing up :) Simple as that.
TRASH – Make sure you backup the things you need. Don’t backup things you won’t need as that slows down the process and it will take more hard disk space. Keep the things you need, the vital files and the files you will need in order to recover everything in a working way.
FRIENDSHIP – Have faith and know it’s your friend. Backing up is the friend you can rely on and when things get messy it will make you smile. Keep that in mind while putting the time and effort to backup.
AUTOMATE – There are software and scripts that can ease your life. You will not need to do everything yourself. Depending on what CMS system you use for your website you can do a search and find a solution there should be at least one to take some of the work off your back. If you are using a custom solution for your website, ask your webmaster about it.

Domain Name is a unique????

pick-your-domain-name-selectionThe Domain Name is a unique, case-insensitive, name, consisting of a string made up of alphanumeric characters and dashes separated by periods, that the Domain Name System maps to IP numbers and other information; an identifier of a computer or site on the Internet; a domain — that part of a domain name which … (taken from Wikipedia). Long story short that is your online property – the address of your virtual office – your website. That is what people type in the address bar of their browser to get your website…

Domains are an important part of the decisions that we have to take when starting a website. Not that we cannot change it afterwards and move our website to another domain name or redirect one to the other but it is always better to think first then act.. this way we will not have to deal with all the problems that may arise later. Even though you can use a 301 redirect and use some of the options that the Google webmaster tools provide, in order to go through changing your domain name as easy as possible, but that will be a topic of one of our next blog posts.
Pick your name wisely. Most of the domains are already taken and to be honest the problem when picking a domain for your company is that chances are you will have to go for variations in order to make it sound close to the company name. That is one of the reasons many people pick their company name while researching domain names, the available domain names give them a basis to use when taking the final decision for your company’s name.
Picking a domain name for a personal website or just an informative blog you want to start is a different story. If you just want to write around a topic you feel passionate about you can go for keyword rich domain names. Having you primary keywords in your domain name can help you significantly in the long run success of your online venture, especially if you have serious intentions for developing it as a income source. If that sounds too alien to you we will develop that too in a series of posts in the near future, so make sure you follow us and stay up-to-date.
There are some websites that you can use in order to check for available domains:
NameBoy – doesn’t give you too many options but you can make combinations with secondary words
DomainsBot – nice tool, gives you the option to search for expiring and “for sale” domains
MakeWords - probably the best tool out there, gives you a lot of options. Highly recommended tool!
Oh, and by the way, if you haven’t noticed you can get a Free Domain Name for Lifewith our Web Pro Plus and Max Pack Plus hosting plans. You can compare them
